Westmeadows Medical Centre was first established in 1972 initially with a solo practitioner and in late 2007, the clinic was taken over by three dedicated medical practitioners.
Over the past 46 years, our clinic has provided exceptional medical services to over 10,000 patients in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. We have been a well-known family oriented medical practice in the community and our relationship with our patients is built on the foundation of trust, professional approach and delivering high quality of health care.
As an accredited medical centre with QPA, we take the responsibility of providing quality patient outcomes. The professional conduct of our health team and staff is of highest standard and always guided by the best practice principles.
Appointments, Walk-ins and Emergencies
This practice generally sees patients by appointments, with the exception of emergencies.
Walk-ins are accepted if we are not busy and there is an availability space for the patients to be seen.
However patients are advised that our practice prefers to see patients by appointemtn and are given the doctor's card so they can call and book in the future. They are also advised of the approximate waiting time.
Home visits are available to regular patients of this surgery who are too ill to attend the practice and live within a 5 kilometre radius of our surgery. The doctors perform regular home visits and nursing home visits at the end of each session. In an emergency situation, the doctor may leave during practice hours to do a home visit.
After Hours Care
After our operating hours, the practice uses the after hour locum service (The National Home Doctors Service) between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am. They can be contacted on 137 425.
Follow ups of Test Results
No results are given over the phone!
Patients who have pathology tests or radiology scans are required to make an appointment to discuss their results with the doctor.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Patient's medical files are private and contain confidential information and they are stored in computerised files. The medical files contain all clinical information relating to the patient including letters received from specialists or hospitals, blood tests, x-rays and ultrasound results. The records are scanned into the patient's files according to date.
Patient Recall and Reminder System
Our practice has a computerised recall system. All patients requiring letters should be entered into the recall system for follow up, subjected to their consent, (verbal consent is acceptable). The reminder letters are automatically generated by the computer every Monday to notify patients about pending appointments for preventative health matters.
Recalls are used for recalling patients with abnormal results depending on the urgency and as instructed by the doctor whether by phone, letter or in person.
Fees and Billing Arrangements
Patients will be bulk billed if they have an existing Medicare Card or Centrelink Concession/Pension card or under the age of sixteen years old.
